Important change to driving test cancellations from 8 April 2025.
The DVSA have announced a change to the period of time you have to give when notifying of a cancellation or change to your driving test date.
You'll need to give 10 working days' notice (instead of 3) to cancel or change your car driving test without losing your fee. (That’s effectively 2 weeks)
This will help reduce waiting times by making sure cancelled slots can be offered more easily to other learners.
Special circumstances like illness or bereavement will still qualify for refunds.
At Driving-Ed along with other driving instructors in North Yorkshire I work hard at preparing my clients to be ready for their driving test in time. By using the DVSA’s Ready to Pass campaign driving instructors encourage their clients to review their progress. If you are learning to drive and have a driving test booked check if you’re ready to pass.
You’ll usually be ready to take your driving test when:
1. You do not need prompts from your driving instructor.
2. You do not make serious or dangerous mistakes when you’re driving.
3. You can pass mock driving tests.
4. You have practised ways of managing your nerves.
5. Your driving instructor agrees you are ready.
If you feel you need to change your date of your test allow plenty of time to do so.
